The Pivot Point
The moment their thinking actually changed, in their own words.
A show about the moment thinking changes
Most people never see the moment their thinking actually changed. Hidden Patterns finds that moment in every guest, and everything that came after it: the belief that broke, the model that replaced it, the pattern hiding in plain sight.
Hosted by Juan Carlos
Every two weeks, Hidden Patterns sits down with builders, thinkers, and makers, from founders and product leaders to artists and philosophers, and goes to the deep end. Not the highlight-reel version of how they succeeded, but what actually happened in the moment their thinking changed: what they believed before, what broke that belief, and what they built in its place.
We don't stop at the framework. A mental model doesn't come from nowhere. It comes from a person's answer to bigger questions: what they think success is actually for, how they've made peace (or haven't) with uncertainty and failure, what they believe about meaning, identity, and their place in something larger than the next quarter. We ask those questions directly, because that's where the pattern actually lives.
This isn't a business podcast or a philosophy podcast. It's both, because the clearest thinkers don't separate the two. Once you see how their strategy and their worldview are the same thing, you can't unsee it.
"The framework was never the point. The framework is just the residue of a belief someone was willing to bet everything on."
— from Episode 1
Not just what a guest did, but what they believe: about meaning, uncertainty, failure, and what any of it is for.
We go straight to the pivot, the moment a guest's thinking actually changed, and stay there.
Guests span founders and investors to artists and philosophers, because clear thinking doesn't stay in one lane, and neither should we.
Every conversation ends in the same place: the mental model underneath it all, and how to spot it in your own work and life.
Every episode chases one pattern, through one guest's turning point:
The moment their thinking actually changed, in their own words.
The mental model that came out of it, and where else it shows up.
What it revealed about meaning, uncertainty, and what they're actually building toward, and how to spot the same pattern in your own work or life.

Juan Carlos
Writer. Builder. Thinker. SVP Product, Data & AI in behavioral healthcare. Founder, Re:Mind.
The question Juan Carlos keeps returning to: who is actually doing your thinking?
The same pattern kept showing up everywhere he worked: people drowning in information, starved for understanding, making decisions on borrowed certainty. He has spent his career asking that question in different rooms. As SVP of Product, Data & AI, he runs AI strategy across a multi-state behavioral healthcare organization, the kind of place where a bad decision costs more than money.
He built Re:Mind to close the same gap at the individual level: a structured thinking system for people who need to catch their own blind spots. Hundreds of backers funded it before it existed.
Before any of this, he wrote and directed award-winning documentaries, including Know How, named Best NYC Feature Film at the NYC International Film Festival and recognized at festivals from Madrid to Harlem, and Second Skin, named one of the best documentaries of the year by Ain't It Cool News. He also founded the White Roof Project, a climate nonprofit that earned him Young Movement's Entrepreneur of the Year. The instinct to build clear systems out of messy problems started long before the job titles did.
His work has been recognized with two CentralReach Autism & IDD Care Awards, two Cynopsis Social Good Awards, two Silver Telly Awards, an Adobe MAX Honorable Mention, and a Best Documentary win at the ACE Film Festival, among others.
The through-line, across all of it, is clarity. Hidden Patterns is that instinct, on record, one guest at a time.
